Bill Belew has raised 2 bi-cultural kids, now 34 and 30. And he and his wife are now parenting a 3rd, Mia, who is 8.

Chinese-American Crystal Lee did an incredible job displaying what 18 years of hard work can accomplish.

Her performance brought tears to my eyes. And made me feel like I wanted to go to dance class even earlier.

Tiger Mamas and all that. I don’t know.

I do know that when someone like Crystal Lee is told she needs to have a talent to display, she needs to be able to ‘show’ people that she has worked hard in an entertaining less than 2-minute way, she was able to reach into school backpack and pull out this amazing dancing ability.

Undergraduate and graduate degrees from Stanford, my neighbor, is indeed amazing.

She is able to express her opinion, too. Sadly, people cannot hear what she has to say.

Listen to her address this very hot topic – Syria. Gassing. Military.

Smart people don’t even know what to do. Crystal Lee is just 22-years old.

If you added the ages of all the United Nations representatives or our delegates in Congress and you have more than a 100 times her age in experience. And all of these people cannot agree on what to do.

Crystal Lee says quite clearly – Bullies should be stopped. And if it takes someone bigger and stronger than the bully and that someone is us, we have a responsibility to stop them.

I hope I meet Crystal some day. I hope I have an opportunity someday to display my hard work and intelligence, too.

But, first I need to go to dancing practice. Then to my swimming lessons.

Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.
