Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace

Another story from my daddy about somebody in need of amazing grace.

Or maybe daddy is still going through reverse culture shock.

Daddy said his good friend, Tyler, went through culture shock when he left California and went to Texas for a while, then came back to California.

“Why are these people in California so rude? So selfish? So thoughtless!?”

Daddy was thinking the same thing today when he was at the gym.

Daddy was waiting to workout on one of the bench press machines. He says it’s a mystery to him why the machine he wants is always taken. I think it has something to do with his super powers that I wrote about before.

There was some guy sitting at the bench press texting on his smart phone.

“Why do they give smartphones to dumb people?” Daddy thought so loud they could almost hear him … except for the music being so loud <= that’s another story.

The guy just wouldn’t move.

Finally daddy asked him if they could row taters (Ed. rotate).

“Oh. I’ve been done for a while,” the gym rat said as he got up and walked away with no apology or anything.

Have people in America always been this inconsiderate? Or is it new?

Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.
