Bill Belew has raised 2 bi-cultural kids, now 34 and 30. And he and his wife are now parenting a 3rd, Mia, who is 8.

My daddy’s friend, Tyler, told daddy about a talk by Ted. Ted, does lots and lots of talking.

Actually … it wasn’t a guy named Ted at all. It was a guy named Malcolm Gladwell who was invited by Ted to talk.

I am not sure why they call it Ted’s talk if it were Malcolm who gave it. Anyway…

Malcolm or Ted talked about David and Goliath. I know this story from my Bible classes.

But, according to Malcolm or Ted, David was not the underdog. David was the little guy, but not the underdog.

It seems Goliath came to a hand-to-hand fight and David brought a long range weapon that, he (David) was quite good at using.

It may be also that Goliath suffered from acromegaly.  <= Click to read more than you might want to know about it.

Yeah, that’s a $100 word that I had to look it up.

It means – GIANT. Big forehead. Bad eyesight. Double vision. And sometimes, not so bright. And most always big.

I wonder if my daddy has acromegaly. Or if I am just little.

I know that whenever he and I wrestle hand-t0-hand, I win. And I am the little guy.

I haven’t used my sling against him – (It keeps hitting me in the head). I have used my ribbons, though, and we both get tied up.

It is no joking matter. And I am not sure Malcolm or Ted got it right about David and Goliath. I do know that the smaller guy beat the bigger guy. The guy they thought would not win for a variety of reasons did win. And David was not afraid of a giant.

We shouldn’t let giants intimidate us either.

What are you afraid of?
