Parents of Chinese-American children, okay, maybe most all parents look for constructive ways for their children to spend the summer.

How about a Silicon Valley Boot Camp? One that results in a job that pays $120,000?

There are 9- to 12-week programs – including Dev Bootcamp, Hackbright Academy, and Hack Reactor.

The problem … you might have to hang out with old guys … and girls.

Thirty-, forty- and 50-somethings. Bankers, attorneys and that kind of person.

The bootcamps cost money to get in to and not everybody gets accepted – one of 20 people to five out of twenty ‘get’ to pay $12,000.

But, when they get out, they are ready to take on a job that pays $120,000 or more. IF, they can get hired.

Facebook looks at the graduates from these bootcamps. As might Google which pays $143,000 to $550,000 for a software engineer.

Stanford University encourages their students to study across disciplines. MBA students take literature classes take art classes take engineering classes. They become more well-rounded and better workerbees in the long run.

I wonder if you have to bring your own crayons and if they have nap time in the afternoon.
