Vegetable Parenting

I tried to read this whole thing. I really did. The Vegetable Parenting Practice Report was, um, too long.

Don’t believe me. Check out the Vegetable Parenting Practices Report for yourself.

But before you do that, and I am serious now, go make dinner. And add to your dinner the one vegetable you do NOT like to eat.

Don’t come back till you’re ready.

Back already? Or you just didn’t make the vegetable.

My dad tells the story about when he was a little boy his parents would make him sit at the table and eat his vegetables or he could NOT go out to play. That didn’t work.

Read: Fruit, Vegetables, Sugars, what’s the right balance?

Then his parents made him sit next to the window and told daddy’s brother to go play right outside the window to tempt him.

That didn’t work.

The simple result – daddy would look at just 3 (count ’em) peas for 1-2 hours or more and sacrifice play time instead of eating something that he didn’t want to eat. He’s stubborn that way. Still is. But, he does eat more veggies.

Well, there is a sure fire way to get kids to eat their veggies. It will work.

Read the report to them at dinner. By the time you are done they will eat their veggies.

In fact, my bet is that they would rather eat their veggies than have to endure sitting through the reading of the whole report.

Try it. And report back.
