Breaking the ice, going for a swim.

I was in Siberia (it really is cold there) a while back. A friend and I were taking a walk at night to see the ice sculptures. A bank-looking thermometer displayed -26C. It’s about the same F. Stink cold. Cold enough to spit ice cubes, that sort of thing.

That same day, it’s warmer when the sun is out, but still below zero F, there were some folks swimming in the river, having just cracked the ice to get in.
Something tells me that experience would certainly freeze your rudder.

The folks are at it again in China’s northernmost city of Heihe. Breaking the ice, going for a swim.

Gotta figure, however, the water only gets so cold and then it freezes. I reckon if you can tolerate 33-34F degree water, it doesn’t matter how much ice is on top of it.

Still, I am not going in the water. How about you?

Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.

Common and frequent practice in Canada, We like to have a steam bath nearby, jump in the icy water to cool down, get back in steam bath to get liquored up, best done naked with mixed company, makes long cold winters plenty damn hot! Keeps population as well as other things rising! Emigrate to Canada and learn to really live! Pretty Russian girls especially welcome!

I bet after a few dips the cold gets real nice.
It’s true. Uncle B. We do that in Canada.
Hot tubs and snow banks are a great winter game for the teenagers.
    (Yes, mixed company is best!)

Shuck off your trousers and go diving!
