Michelle Kwan - Chinese-American

Michelle Kwan – Chinese-American

Michelle Kwan is my next pick for famous and influential Chinese-American.

I already wrote about how hard she worked. How hard her parents worked. And how important friends are to have at the right time.

But there’s another reason why I think she is so cool.

Not only could she skate. She could and did study, too.

Not only did she finish her skating practice each day. When she was done skating she finished her studies, too.

All that skating and she started doing home schooling when she was in the 8th grade.

But after she finished her skating career, she went back to school! She transferred from UCLA to Denver. She finished her degree at Denver in 2009 in international studies. That came in useful later.

She then went to Tufts and got her Master’s Degree in Law and Diplomacy. Wow!

And and … the administrators at Southern Vermont College awarded her an honorary doctorate. Holy Toledo!

Not only did Michelle excel on the rink, she was tops out of the rink, too.

And because of her ability to do both, she was picked by presidents and such to be an ambassador = to travel and be a representative for the United States!!

Tiny – 5′ 2″ in stature, but not in influence.

Michelle was also the voice of a shopkeeper in Mulan II.

Read more about Michelle Kwan and why she inspires me. And another very influential Chinese-American, Perry Chen.
