Bill Belew has raised 2 bi-cultural kids, now 34 and 30. And he and his wife are now parenting a 3rd, Mia, who is 8.

Daddy works out of a co-working space called Hacker Dojo. It’s a bunch of geeks, techies and other creatives (daddy included) who are working on the next big thing.

It’s in Mountain View, home to Google. Yeah, that Google.

There were some really nice building a good stone’s throw away (literally, depending on how far you can throw) that were recently torn down. Daddy wondered out loud to his friend, Tyler, why they tore down such nice buildings.

Now I know.

Samsung, they made daddy’s phone, bought the area … an 8.5 acre campus.

And Samsung is going to do research = find companies and ideas they can invest in.

Samsung sold $187.8 billion in stuff last year. That includes daddy’s phone  – the Galaxy Note II. Daddy likes the big screen. He says it goes well with his fat sausage fingers.

Samsung has 270,000 employees in 79 countries and has been a part of Silicon Valley for 30 years.

In addition to research and development, Samsung wants to continue to innovate and collaborate with local universities = Stanford.

There will be 2 buildings, each 6-stories tall and 2 parking garages almost the same size.

That’s a lot of people who are going to need a place to live and my house is not that far away. Nor are the new LinkedIn buildings!

The buildings will be ready by Christmas in 2014.
