Watching TV

All I can say is that it’s about time.

In an article, I found at MSNBC International entitled BEYOND SUSHI two Tokyo-based writers, three London-based writers, one Australia based writer and one US based writer combined  to say – in short,  “Westerners are starting to embrace a second love affair with the Japanese culture.”

What I want to say, is what took everyone so long?

Is it because business in Japan has been so bad?

Is it because Japan is so expensive”

I don’t know.

But as for me, I have always loved Japan and the Japanese- their hard working character, attention to detail and ability to make take anything good and make it better. Not to mention the very unhealthy katsudon and tempura.

This article is a great read and lists many, uh, new Japanese invasions into the western world – sudoku, their healthy long living lifestyles, beauty products, Yu-Be, capsule hotels, and manga such as Yaoi.

Japan has much to offer, not to mention the $108.000  per household savings that is burning a hole in someone’s pocket.

Brendan McMahon, COO of Diamond Agency and an expert on branding in Asia says,“People aren’t looking to Japan only for electronic goods but ideas about how to live. Westerners see the Japanese have longevity and a culture of natural health from diet and lifestyle, and they want to learn from it.”

Here here! There is much to learn from Japan and the Japanese. How about self-control and respect for colleagues and family and how to do business JETRO? How about humility and customer service? And don’t forget – smaller is better APPLE vs. SONY.

I love Japan. But I was also a Cincinnati Bengal fan through all their dark years as well.

Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.
