India

I guess I haven’t lived long enough because I surely haven’t heard of everything.

There is a province in India, Uttar Pradesh, where and estimated 40,000 people are ‘living dead.’

What happens is some unscrupulous family member/s get together to declare another family member dead…and then with the help of corrupt government officials, take over his or her assets resulting in the truly living person having nothing but a lifetime of trying to prove he or she is alive.

There is a story here of a many who had to fight for about 28 years to prove he was alive!

He says, “My efforts bore fruits and in 2004, I was declared alive by the government.”

And, if he wasn’t alive, who was that standing there doing the talking?

Imagine if your family members declared you dead and had the paperwork to back it up?

Then again…there is no doubt, some people who would like to go that route, I suspect.

Have you ever wished you were dead…but not really?

Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.
