Gong Li and Zhang Ziyi have both received nominations for Best Actress Award in the first Asian Film Awards to be held in Hong Kong, March 20th.

A more interesting story to many is the battle of Chollywood’s best men against Bollywood’s Best.

Representing Chollywood will be Hong Kong’s Andy Lau

and Taiwan’s Chen Chang, both nominated for Best Actors.

Bollywood’s Shahrukh Khan received a nod from the committee as well.

South Korea’s actor/singer Rain is a fifth nominee.

“The first Asian Film Awards, organized by the Hong Kong International Film Festival, will be held at the opening ceremony of the Entertainment Expo Hong Kong 2007. The 17 people on the selection committee will choose nominees from more than 700 Asian movies released since 2006.”
