Bill Belew has raised 2 bi-cultural kids, now 34 and 30. And he and his wife are now parenting a 3rd, Mia, who is 8.

My daddy gets around. He’s also round.  He he he.

Mommy tells him, “Get in shape!”

“Round is a shape,” daddy shoots back.

Doesn’t matter to me. He’s my daddy.

Last week daddy disappeared. He said he went to vanilla. (Ed: Manila). And he brought back some chocolate. Not. He did bring me a really cool bracelet and a surprise!

He was speaking at a corn for cents. (Ed: Conference).

He brought me back a newspaper from the Philippians (Ed: Philippines) that said they have mermaid classes! I couldn’t believe my eyes. I can’t even swim and I already want to be a mermaid. Maybe I need to take some swimming classes.

Daddy also said that some guy who’s name is so long you have to take a breath just to say it invited him to come back next year to sing in the pouring rain. (Ed:Singapore.) It’s a writing and illustrator conference for kids. That’s me!

Mommy says she wants to go, too! And maybe, just maybe he’ll take me along. And we can stop by vanilla and take some mermaid classes.

Wouldn’t that be cool?

Daddy says he’ll take me anywhere I want to go.

Next month he is going to carrots and beans island. (Ed: Caribbeans) to speak on a cruise ship. I told him, “Never mind this time. I don’t like carrots.”

Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.
