Yay!
I am from Silicon Valley.
I am Asian-American. My mommy is Chinese and my daddy is Made In USA.
My daddy teaches and he has a lot of students who are Indian-American. They have guest blogged here at my site.
We are all celebrating the Miss America victory by an Asian-American. Indian-American Nina Davuluri of New York won the Miss America pageant.
In Silicon Valley there are a LOT of Indian-Americans.
My daddy attended the swearing in for American citizenship of his friend from Iran.
When they called out all the countries, by alphabetical order, among the 1400+ people being given citizenship that day about one-third were from China. Yeah. that’s a lot.
But but but … about one-half were from India.
There are a lot of friends from India in Silicon Valley. And there are a lot of Indian-Americans here, too.
And, to be sure, the Indian-Americans in this area are celebrating the victory of one of their own – Nina Davuluri – to represent Miss America for 2014.
I am happy for her, too. And for Chinese-American, Crystal Lee who was born and raised right down the street from me.
More: Silicon Valley native, Crystal Lee is Runner up to Miss America 2014.
And for the number four runner up, Chinese-American, Rebecca Yeh.
I counted four Asian-Americans among the 52 contestants for Miss American 2014 and three Asian-Americans were in the top 6. Two of them were Chinese-American!
I am still working on my dreams. What do you think?
Should little girls hope to grow up to be Miss America?
