Bill Belew’s two sons are bi-cultural Japanese-American, now 41- and 38-years old. He and his wife are now parenting a daughter, Mia, who is 16!
I don’t want for much. My mommy and daddy pretty much take good care of me.
I have all I need, and so far, that’s good enough for me.
But if I could want something, I might want a cutting board.
My daddy’s student, Josie, owns the website Mac Cutting Boards. She invited me to guest blog at her site.
So I wrote about What Little Girls Look for When They Buy a Cutting Board.
I don’t do much cooking other than pretend cooking.
To do that, I don’t need anything other than a pretend knife and a pretend cutting board.
But if I were to get a cutting board, I would want it to be shaped like a pony, a princess, a fairy, or my daddy.
Or how about a cutting board shaped like China? But I don’t know what they would do with Taiwan. Taiwan would keep falling on the floor.
Making cutting boards out of stuff that would otherwise be thrown away is a great idea. My mommy teaches me about being green. It’s not quite the same, but it’s still a good idea.
China will also have to learn this lesson. It needs to learn how to use material repeatedly.
Maybe this is something I will teach them when I grow up.
Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.
