Good news for my micro biologist
This might be good news for my micro biologist, biochemist, neuroscientist big brother, Micah. And good news for me, too!
Some very very rich people in Silicon Valley, where I live, gave a lot of money to a local university – UC San Francisco for their PhD students in the basic sciences.
They gave $30 million! I don’t know how much that is. But it sounds like a lot.
The goal is to get more biomedical research done. I don’t know what that is either.
But my big brother, Micah, knows. That is what he is studying/doing.
He’s a scientist. And he knows all the hard stuff – biology, chemistry, physics and how to mix them together.
Maybe … maybe, Micah will come back here to learn, work, teach… and play with me!
That’d be cool. Then he and I can hang out the way I hang out with my other big brother, Georgie.
The people who gave the money own a big tree. Seriously – Sequoia Capital.
They made their money by helping baby companies get started. Some of those companies are
Apple (AAPL), Cisco (CSCO), Google (GOOG), Yahoo(YHOO) and PayPal. You might have heard of them. They are big now.
The givers want to make sure that smart people are not prevented from learning just because they don’t have enough money.
I just want to play with Micah more often.
