Ultrarunning and Life’s Lessons

Growing up is a marathon not a sprint – Repetition, Repetition, Repetition

Sometimes the best way to get strong is to not big up something heavy. But rather to pick up something light many many times.

Lesson: Repetition if vital to improving power and strength.

The number one reason why people get hurt in sports, and most probably in business and other areas of life, is that they try to do too much too soon.

Try to pick up something that is too heavy and you will hurt yourself.

Try to run too fast too soon and you can hurt a muscle or even fall down.

Try to grow your business too quickly and you can overextend your reach and end up with nothing … bankrupt.

A better strategy is to do the things you know how to repeatedly and very gradually increase the weight, the distance or the reach. In that way you will have power and strength.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was the governor or California … even he was born in a foreign country, spoke with a foreign accent and spent more time in the gym than behind a desk for many years. Oh, and he acted out in movies, too!

Schwarzenegger was also Mr. Olympia.

When asked why/how he became so good. “Repetition, repetition, repetition.”

Doing small things over and over and over again and increasing it gradually over time will make me stronger and more powerful, and I am NOT talking about muscles, in the long run.
