Panda
According to the zookeepers, it wasn’t the Panda’s fault.
Lisa, after going through training, was given the opportunity to feed a giant panda. The panda realizing the bamboo it was eating was quickly disappearing started to eat faster and chomped on to Lisa’s thumb.
Lisa screamed – the zookeepers screamed back – Don’t Move! – kind of hard to NOT do when you thumb is being eaten by a Panda and the rest of your hand and arm and body is attached.
Lisa yanked her thumb out and the Panda got one fifth of the digit as a bonus meal.
The zoo has been accepting and training volunteers from Japan, the US, France and Spain for more than two years – 1,200 volunteers to date.
They have also been building some good relationships on the bamboo shoot level.
Now, if a Panda had a hold of your thumb between is his teeth and it hurt bad enough for you to scream and someone said “don’t move!” what would you do?
I’d whip the Panda with my free hand and yank with the other for sure.
