Bill Belew has raised 2 bi-cultural kids, now 34 and 30. And he and his wife are now parenting a 3rd, Mia, who is 8.
Spending time in India making a film and shopping for children in Cambodia and Vietnam, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie decided they needed to get away from it all.
The couple showed up in the Caribbean Virgin Islands with 97 pieces of luggage and an entourage to stay at beach front villa, the private cottage of Laurance Rockefeller.
Their children and nannies were with them as well.
Third world lifestyle has its limitations. Candlelit dinners on the veranda are the cure…for Brad and Angie.
But, what about the people who can’t escape?
I spent time in India, Russia before the ‘walls came tumbling down’ and other third world countries. It was easy enough for me to endure whatever because I knew I would be going home eventually.
But, making an $8000, or $800 or even $80 a night vacation stop on my way back to reality was never part of my plan.
I don’t fault Brad and Angelina, well maybe I do, for having the money, but it does seem that the rich are sometimes too rich.
I am reminded of Jesus’ words to the rich young man who wanted to make a difference – “Leave everything and come follow me (Jesus). The man went away sad because he had much.
Brad and Angie left happily and returned to the luxurious lifestyle.
