“Don’t think and don’t worry. When the times comes, you’ll know what to do.” – Helen Parr, The Incredibles
The Incredibles was, well, incredible. I watched this when I was a little girl. (Ed. You’re still my little girl)
It was so fun to watch. The things that family could do were really cool.
The mother, Helen Parr, was super stretchy – a parachute, a sail, around the bus. How imaginative of the creators of the movie.
Oh and the daddy, sucking in his belly to get into his super costume. Just like my daddy, but without the super costume part.
To be honest, I didn’t expect it to be all that super cool. That’s what made the movie even better. It surprised me.
Helen Parr the mommy told her kids, “Don’t think and don’t worry. When the time comes, you’ll know what to do.”
My daddy said something like that to me.
He takes me to the park almost every day. At the park there are some benches. And I wanted to hop from one bench to the other. But I was afraid. They looked like they were too far apart for me to step from one to the other.
Then daddy said, “Don’t think. Just step. It’s like walking. You can do it.”
I know how to walk. And I trust my daddy. So I just stepped like I would on the ground even though I wasn’t.
And sure enough, I could do it. My daddy was right.
Sometimes NOT thinking is the thing to do. Just trust what I know how to do and do that.
I wonder if daddy got the idea from Helen Parr or if she got it from him. Daddy is older, so maybe just maybe ….
