China’s Premier Wen Jiabao has put safety and product quality at the top of the list.
Made-in-China should reflect a producer’s credibility and the country’s image.
The premier called for improvements in 6 fields:
1. Improvement to the market access mechanism and the elevation of quality standards for products that concern people’s health and safety.
2. To update China’s quality standards according to international standards.
3. To strengthen supervision on food and product quality throughout the whole production process.4. To speed up
amendments to relevant laws and regulations including the Food Hygiene Law and the Frontier Health and Quarantine Law.
5. To launch crackdowns against illegal small food processing plants in the vast rural and suburb areas.
6. To establish a transparent and rapid information disclosure system and publicize quality information to ensure the public is well informed.
Of course, it is one thing to call for action, and another to see it accomplished.
Believe him or not….no country would ever want to project a bad image and deliver poor quality products…including China.
China, as well as the world who buys from and has products built there, will all benefit if the Premier’s initiatives come to fruition.
