When The New World opens up at two special theaters, one in Tokyo and one in Osaka, moviegoers will not only see and hear the movie, they will also be able to smell the movie. And it won’t smell like popcorn or shrimp chips.
During emotional scenes, romance and anger, fragrances sill be dispensed.
NTT Communications is the, um, nose behind all of this.
Japanese hotels and venues in a half-dozen other countries have asked for a demo of the system.
I wonder, however, what movie goes will smell if a particular scene really stinks.
