Bill Belew has raised 2 bi-cultural kids, now 34 and 30. And he and his wife are now parenting a 3rd, Mia, who is 8.
There is a very famous Bible verse that all children everywhere, Chinese-American or not, should read and memorize.
It talks a little bit about what heaven will be like.
The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. Isaiah 11:6
It’s the last part that is cool to me – a little child will lead them.
It appears that sometimes we little people know things that big people have forgotten. Or maybe we are just doing things that big people should be doing again. I don’t know. I am too little and this problem is too hard for me.
I just live my life, trusting my mommy and daddy and my teachers and so far that is working for me.
At Diana Symon’s site I wrote about 5 loaves and 2 fish and a famous child in the Bible.
This little boy brought so little lunch with him. (Thank you to his Mommy!) But the preacher, that’s Jesus, was able to take a little and do a lot. The little boy just had to give his all to him.
I am little, too. But I want the preacher to do a miracle with me and all I bring.
I am pretty sure he can. I’ll trust him and see how things turn out.
After all, my mommy and daddy have taught me to trust.
Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.
