World Cup – Sports

For the first time ever India and Pakistan will face off in the T20 Cricket World Cup.

It’s the kind of script that is made for Bollywood.

Pakistan beat New Zealand and India beat Australia in the semis.

The two countries will face off today and neither nuclear power wants to lose….which is entirely possible.

Cricket matches can go on for days with bowlers and runs scored and westerners thinking ‘huh?’

Headlines go like this –

India wins by 5 runs. India scored 157 after losing 5 wickets in 20 overs. It was easy to chase for Pakistan team. But they failed. Pakistan team set 152 all out. Misbah scored the highest run of 43. Irfan Pathan and RP Singh have taken 3 wickets each.

I spent some time in India and was confined to my hotel room on a day where people ran around painting their friends and looking for a white guy like to me to really go nuts on.

There was a cricket match on the tube and my good Indian friends explained it to me. I ended up buying a cricket bat and ball and bringing it home for a souvenir for my son. We never played. Something with me telling him it was over before it started.

I did, however, learn that my Indian friends loved the game…spoke with fire in their eyes and passion in their voices about it.

Guys love their sports….and that’s the same everywhere.

Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.
