Princesses in the Kingdom of God

Princesses in the Kingdom of God

I think about kingdoms and princesses and princes sometimes. Not so much about weapons and wars and armors.

Well, actually, I mostly think about princesses. They are good role models.

Belle teaches me to not look at the outside.

Pocahontas teaches me to walk in another shoes.

Mulan teaches me to not think I am limited as a girl.

Rapunzel teaches me to dream.

You get the picture.

On Sundays I am reminded that I am a citizen of a kingdom. My daddy’s student Diana Symons writes about The Kingdom of God and Where Authority Meets Humility. I get the Kingdom of God idea. But those other words are too big for me.

At Christmas time we sing about the Prince of Peace.

In the Bible there is the daughter of Pharaoh. She might be a princess. Solomon met the Queen of Sheba. If she had daughters, they’d be princesses.

One of the Psalms (45) mentions a princess. (I had to cheat and use a searcher thingee to find this.)

And King David married a princess. And he had children/daughters. They would be princesses.

And God is the King. And I am a child of God. That makes me a princess, too.

But before I get to ‘proud’ of being a princess I’d better remember that I am just a little girl, too. And I am here to make the lives of those I meet better. Maybe that’s what Diana means by humility?
