Bill Belew has raised 2 bi-cultural kids, now 34 and 30. And he and his wife are now parenting a 3rd, Mia, who is 8.

My daddy has Thailand on his mind.

He spent last week in Bangkok speaking to a bunch of hospital manager guys and girls about being social in the media. I am not really sure what my daddy says. But that’s okay, nobody asks me, “What’s your daddy do?”

It seems like only big people ask that question.

“Hi. My name is Bobo. What do you do?”

“I am Mia. And I play a lot. And I go to kindergarten”

Anyway …

Daddy came across this Thai video commercial. After more than 4 million votes it has a 99.4% like to dislike ratio.

Yeah… my kindergarten is pretty advanced. I did the math in my head. Likes divided by likes plus dislikes.

I am kidding of course. I used a slide rule.

This 3 minute video has a more powerful message than most Hollywood blockbusters.  Tangled and The Little Mermaid come to mind. Those are really hard to beat.

My point here at How I Learned to be Me is that America and Hollywood are not the only sources of video or visual entertainment and learning.

We can learn and be inspired a lot if we are willing to go across cultures, read the sub titles and well … have a more open mind.

What is your favorite non-hollywood movie?
