Bill Belew has raised 2 bi-cultural kids, now 34 and 30. And he and his wife are now parenting a 3rd, Mia, who is 8.

This article begins:

I think every parent has that moment when they get embarassed (sic) by their kid’s temper tantrums.

Sic means it makes the reader or the editor sick when there is a misspelled word in an article that should have been proof read. Or, honestly in sum kaces it mite just be a typo. 8-).

Um, no. Every parent does NOT have that moment when they are embarrassed. I never embarrassed my mommy and daddy like that. And according to my daddy, my two older brothers never ever embarrassed him either.

That’s three for three. And no, I am not perfect. And my brothers are not perfect either.

The article goes on to explain about cortisol releases and kids thinking magically, not logically and that it’s good to get freaked out from time to time or scream into a pillow.

Really?!

I don’t freak out. And I never saw my mommy scream at a pillow.

“Hey! You stupid pillow. Why are you just laying there? Get out of bed, now! Pillow?! Are you listening to me?”

Daddy? He yells at other cars and his computer when the back space doesn’t work fast enough. But he’s getting better at not doing that.

Temper tantrums? Not everybody does them, and not every parent has to endure them.

Just give us lots of hugs. Lots and lots of hugs BEFORE we get scared. And talk to us a lot BEFORE we get anxious. And listen to us a lot BEFORE we get afraid.

Then we know where we can go and we won’t have to get all goofy.

Have you ever had to deal with a temper tantrum? How did you handle it?
