Little Girls Can Learn to Love to Read If…

I love to read.

I love it when my mommy reads to me in Chinese.

I love it when my daddy reads to me in English. Even when he sometimes reads to me in Japanese (but I don’t understand!) The words sound funny, though. Un toka show. Doe koi show. Or something like that.

I read books about Rainbow Fairies. <= click to see. They are fun to read.

My Daddy Reads Big Books

My daddy reads bye oh graph easies (Ed: biographies) and tells me about great people. I don’t always get what he says, but I get that there are great people.

And the books about them are really really fat, too!

Daddy reads about Teddy Bears and Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh.

Some of the books are (I had to ask daddy to write this part):

Click to see => The Bully Pulpit (about Teddy Roosevelt) – the Teddy bear was named after him.

Click to see => The Last Lion (about Winston Churchill) – That’s where Winnie the Pooh got his name.

Click to see => Walt Disney (about … do you have to ask?). Walt Disney gave his name away to make Walt Disney Studios. Really.

I don’t know what’s more fun … loving to read or having a mommy and daddy who love to read and tell me stories.

ALSO READ  Dads with little maturity: Stories and Experiences!

But I do know learning is fun … and learning starts with reading.

What do you like to read?

Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.
