Chinese Americans

China and America

This question is interesting –

Does China’s government help cause the US-China trade imbalance?

Both the opinion leaders and the general public agree that the Chinese government is meddling somehow. General public (57%) and Opinion Leaders (78%).  Big difference, eh?

The biggest difference, however, was in how strongly the two groups felt the Chinese government was interfering.

More than half (52%) of the opinion leaders are convinced the Chinese government is playing havoc with the imbalance while just (30%) of the general public wondered – how can a government interfere with trade imbalances?

The US sent more than $200 billion to China than it got back out. The trade imbalance is old news?

The question is how much the Chinese government has to do with it AND why they are involved at all.

What do you think?

Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.

While it seems in China and US best interests would be advanced if they’d collaborate on this key issue for winning, results… both sides seem to be hearing and valuing more ideas from the other side lately…That’s a skill that we need as a global model right now … so it will be interesting to see if these two can pull it off…. My guess is they can…. The question is …which side can lead the way to more collaborative problem solving on this one — while both can still win… What do you think?

I am not as confident as you…

My experience with the Chinese is that they do NOT look for Win-Win situations…they prefer Win-Lose…especially in business deals.

    We’ll see.

  • China is still essentially a top-down, centrally run economy. Therefore, either directly or indirectly, its government must be influencing its balance of trade.
