Bill Belew has raised 2 bi-cultural kids, now 34 and 30. And he and his wife are now parenting a 3rd, Mia, who is 8.
Two Chinese women were sitting in a bar when they saw two guys fighting over which culture is smartest.
When the women heard this they went over and the first lady said,” We know a way to figure out which culture is the smartest.”
The second lady answered, “Yes we do. If you will buy us a couple of drinks we will tell you the way you figure it out.”
So, the guys figuring they had nothing to lose bought the girls a couple of drinks.
The first girl said, “The way to know is by seeing which culture uses the least number if utensils in eating.”
The men quickly began to listen eagerly to the women and ordered another round.
The first lady said,” Well the Indians use their hands to eat but their hands have five fingers, so they use five utensils to eat. So, they aren’t the smartest.
Next, come the Americans. They use a fork but there are four tongs on the fork, so they use four utensils.
Now come us Chinese. We use chopsticks and there are only two that makes us the smartest.”
As the lady finished and each poured down their last meal, the men sat puzzled for a second then finally agreed that Chinese were the smartest.
As they left, the second lady said to the first, “That was an easy way to get a few drinks and to get them thinking that we are the smartest.”
What do you think?
Yes, the girls are smart but not honest.
I don’t think it’s a usual way Chinese treat foreigners. Just take it as a joke.
interesting
Why does it have to be 2 American men? Why not two Australian men or Chinese men, or whatever?
Yeah, it’s a joke, but I’ve noticed many jokes about us Americans supposedly being “stupid”
As a 73 year old man with MS (Multiple Sclerosis), my wife and I recently visited China as tourists. I can honest say that I have never been treated more kindly than those days there. I had expected a rather harsh attitude toward “capitalistic Americans” but I found the Chinese people, without exception, to be very kind, gracious and helpful to me!
I can’t believe I was stupid enough to waste one minute of my time by reading this rubbish. And I’m from London – I should be smarter than all of you.
it is a joke, but not really smart joke!this story is neither humorous nor wise!
Japanese is very arrogant, american is too.
The smartest culture in the world is obviously the PanAsianBiz culture. Keep up the good work guys.
And yes that was meant as sarcasm.
childishly delivered.
btw forks are a far better general purpose eating tool than chopsticks. but that’s besides the point since this was just a joke.
problem is, it was a pretty dumb joke and the closing line sounded like it was written by a three year old struggling with basic english.
Andre, thats because Americans are “stupid”. Don’t loose your sleep over it.
