Bill Belew has raised 2 bi-cultural kids, now 34 and 30. And he and his wife are now parenting a 3rd, Mia, who is 8.
I was speaking to a friend of mine who lived very near the southern tip of the island of Kyushu, which is one of Japan’s four major islands. He told me they were getting asked on. The name of his city was Kagoshima.
There are about 800 active volcanoes in the world, and Japan can boast, (did I say boast?) of having 80 of them. One of the most famous volcanoes is Fuji-san, though it is not active. Thank goodness. I don’t know what I would have done had it spit back at me as I looked down into its crater.
But, my friend was not so lucky. Though the volcano near his home has not erupted lately, it still spews out ash on a regular basis. Every so often, their cars and streets get covered with ASH! Instead of shoveling snow, they shovel gray powdery ash off their cars before they go to work. Isn’t that cool? Or hot? Or something?
If you plan to do business in Japan, be sure to take an umbrella. You can either get rained on, snowed on and if you are lucky – asked on.
