Bill Belew has raised 2 bi-cultural kids, now 34 and 30. And he and his wife are now parenting a 3rd, Mia, who is 8.
In an earlier post, I wrote about Two Republicans and a Democrat
in China trying to put the squeeze on the big dragon.
“We are more optimistic than we were when we came here. We have seen that the Chinese government and the Chinese people (all 1.4 billion of them?) actually have a convergence with the American people on currency,” said Senator Graham.
Huh!?
Still, despite these sentiments, the Senators still seem to be intent on pushing a bill that would impose tariffs of 27.5% on all Chinese exports. I wonder who is going to pay that?
The other Senator said, “We still need some concrete signs of movement.” But, he refused to spell out what those movements would be.
Okay…dang it! What are the Chinese supposed to do? And how much is going to cost me? That’s all I want to know.
In the end, both senators were said to have pinpointed as a breakthrough that Chinese officials had assured them that eventually they (the Chinese) will allow the yuan to float freely.
Wow, I am glad we have politicians in charge of these discussions, aren’t you?
Sounds like they got a lot accomplished.
