Quotes on Parenthood- Franklin D. Roosevelt | Preparing Children for the Future

Franklin D. Roosevelt was a president of the United States a long time ago.

I am learning about the presidents in my school.

So far, I don’t know any of them. But I have time. I am only in kindergarten.

Daddy likes to read about history. World Wars and so on.

The president when my daddy’s daddy was a kid is Franklin D. Roosevelt. They called him FDR. That’s for kids in kindergarten so it’s easier to remember.

FDR had something to say about kids.

“We may not be able to prepare the future for our children, but we can at least prepare our children for the future.”  ― Franklin D. Roosevelt

Nobody knows what will happen in the future. Unless you’re my daddy.

Daddy says. “The best way to know the future is to make it.”

But we can prepare ourselves for the future. And we depend on our mommies and daddies and teachers and grandpas and grandmas who have experience being young and old to tell us how to prepare for when we get old.

I don’t know about  them things.

I am having too much fun living today to think about the tomorrow.

Maybe learning when I need to think about tomorrow and when I don’t have to think about it is something I need to learn, too.

When do you think kids need to start thinking about their future?

Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.
