Bill Belew has raised 2 bi-cultural kids, now 34 and 30. And he and his wife are now parenting a 3rd, Mia, who is 8.
They grow them bigger in Russia…babies that is….a 17.05 lb baby.
Well…make that everything is bigger in Russia…the whole country is nearly two times bigger than the second largest country, Canada.
A 42-year old woman delivered the big girl by Caesarean section in a 30,000 person town in south Siberia.
The 17-pound baby was born on September 17th and mom is so happy the baby was born a week or even a day later. Who knows how much she would have come into the world weighing then?
For their efforts the small family, except for the kid, got:
1. a good washing machine,
2. a food package
3. a card (what kind?)
and
4. a promise of more support in the future.
The baby is more than two times the average size (7.04lbs) but still almost one baby short of the Guinness World Record of 23.12 lbs born to a woman in the United States in 1879 and 22.8 lb babies born to women in Italy in 1955 and another woman in South Africa in 1982.
I don’t know what He Ping Ping weighs, but chances are this newborn has already caught up with the 2.4 feet world’s smallest dude.
