Blogging in India

I like this guy and I don’t even know him. Vikram Akula has made SKS India one of the fastest growing microlenders anywhere.

SKS has loaned $52 million to 221,000 clients in the past 8 years. Do the math, this is hard work…especially when loans are typically around $116 and they are made to people who make less than $2/day.

I love it. Somebody is trying to help the little people. And now Visa International wants to step in and help out.  Well, sure after SKS did this much leg work.

According to Time, someone very close to KnowMoreMedia has taken notice as well…David Schappell of Unitus – nonprofit venture capital firm devoted to microfinance.

Now, if only Schappell can find someone willing to work as hard as Akula – one person at a time till they get to 200,000.

I love this work ethic.

Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.

Bill, I’ve had the opportunity to meet Dave Schappell and learn about Unitus from him, and I know it’s a great thing they’re trying to do. Microfinance loans won’t solve the world’s problems by themselves, but they certainly can and do help.

    Thanks Easton,
Perhaps Dave Schappell would like to make a guest appearance on one of the blogs…if not somewhere else, he is welcome at mine.
