Happy Birthday, Micah!!!!

Micah is my big brother. I am super-proud of him.

Daddy talks about him a LOT. Micah is really really smart. He’s getting a PhD in something I can’t spell, pronounce or understand. (Ed. molecular exercise physiology)

Daddy told me a story –

” Mia, I remember exactly where I was 28 years ago today.

In fact before I agreed to where Micah would be born at Sanjo hospital I insisted that they let me be in the delivery room.
It was the first time ever for a dad to be in the delivery room in Niigata, maybe even in Japan. Now, it happens a lot.
Even when Micah was a newborn he was a first.
In woke up at a little after 4 am. It was good practice for the many early mornings Micah would have going to swim practice. Micah was born a bit after 8 am.
The staff at Ishiguro Byouin didn’t quite ‘get’ it. I wanted to be there before the delivery but they only let me in just when Micah was ready to come out. So, I spent the time staring at the delivery board.
I added up all the weights and averaged them all out and did a bunch of other mind games to stay occupied.
Micah set a record for the biggest baby ever born. 4230 grams is what I remember.
Micah was number one yet again … twice in one day and he was less than a minute old.
And Micah is still chalking up number ones.  Micah makes me so proud.”
Happy Birthday, Micah!!!!
