“You’re Plane Will Crash!”

“Huh?!”

“There’s a tall building in your path.”

“Huh?!”

China has about 8,500 pilots. And it’s no big deal as long as they stay within Chinese airspace.

Reason – only 651 of China’s pilots have passed the English exams that indicate they are proficient enough to meet international aviation English standards.

When they fly outside of China, it’s anybody’s guess how they communicate – hand signals maybe? flags?

Problem – Chinese pilots don’t seem to care. So much so that the International Civil Aviation Organization has had to come down on them and tell them to study….long, hard and comprehensively.

China has a boom in airline travel but

service, training, and hardware standards are struggling to keep up.

Before long, Chinese will NOT be able to travel NOT because they can’t get a visa, but because they can’t find anyone to fly the planes…and even then, the pilot won’t be able to take them out of Chinese airspace.

Would you like to have a pilot on an international flight who cannot speak English?

Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.
