Internet

Okay, my microprocessor still runs on hamsters, okay? But, I didn’t even know about Internet2.

Apparently, it goes at 10Gps, or nearly 1000 times as fast as my www.comcast.com connection.

Did you see that? Want to see it again?

That’s fast.  Apparently, data will be transmitted over 10 colors, wavelengths of light.  The real capacity than would be 100Gps. Even I could fit on that.  I wonder….

There is a famous character in Japan.  His name is Doraemon.  One of the things that this little fellow has that everyone wishes they could have is a dokodemo doa – a door to anywhere. He pulls it out of the pouch on his belly and it stands tall. You wish for where you want to go and then open the door and step through…voila! (okay, that’s French) but then you are there!  It’s neat.

I wonder if Internet2 is a precursor to that sort of thing. Or will we need Internet2100 before it is possible?

Hey, Doraemon! I am right behind you.

Talk to Bill and others about their experiences raising bi-cultural Japanese-American kids.
